272 Named to Athletic Director’s Honor Roll

ATHENS, Ga. – A total of 272 student-athletes posted a grade point average of 3.00 or higher for the fall semester. Student-athletes who have achieved a 3.00 or higher were honored for their accomplishments by being named to the Fall 2011 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. Four student-athletes were named Presidential Scholars, which requires a 4.00 GPA taking nine or more hours: gymnastics team members Camille Pfister (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Shayla Worley (Orlando, Fla.), equestrian team member Kate Skogland (Tualatin, Ore.) and women’s swimming team member Maddie Locus (Sugarland, Texas).
Seven Players In All-Star Games; Seven Invited to NFL Combine

ATHENS--------- Seven Georgia football players have been invited to play in post-season all-star games while seven have also received invitations to the annual NFL Combine. Cornerback and Paul Hornung Award winner Brandon Boykin of Fayetteville, punter Drew Butler of Duluth, center Ben Jones of Centreville, Ala., and offensive lineman Cordy Glenn of Riverdale will play in the Senior Bowl game in Mobile, Ala., Saturday, Jan. 28. Placekicker Blair Walsh of Boca Raton, Fla., defensive lineman DeAngelo Tyson of Statesboro, and fullback Bruce Figgins of Columbus will participate in the East-West Shrine Game, Saturday, Jan. 21, in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Boykin, Butler, Glenn, Walsh, Tyson, Jones, and Justin Anderson of Ocilla have been invited to the NFL Combine which will be held in Indianapolis Feb. 22-28.

ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia junior tight end Orson Charles has decided to forego his senior season and enter the 2012 NFL Draft.
Bacarri Rambo To Return For Senior Season

ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia junior free safety Bacarri Rambo has decided to return for his senior season rather than enter the 2012 NFL Draft.
Rambo, a 6-0, 218-pound native of Donalsonville, Ga., finished the 2011 season with a Southeastern Conference-leading eight interceptions to go along with 55 tackles for the SEC Eastern Division champions. The AP First Team All-American returned those picks a combined 157 yards, which ranks third all-time in Georgia history, while starting 13 games.
During his three seasons with the Bulldogs, Rambo is tied for third in the school record books with 13 interceptions and has recorded 162 career tackles. He helped anchor a defense that finished third in the SEC this season in Total Defense (268 yards/game), Pass Defense (165.1) and Rushing Defense (103.4).

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Georgia senior cornerback/return specialist Brandon Boykin has been named the 2011 Paul Hornung Award winner as the nation’s most versatile player, according to an announcement by the Louisville Sports Commission and Paul Hornung on Monday morning.
